Shannon, Georgia, is a community that is part of Floyd County, Georgia, and located in Northwest Georgia between Rome and Calhoun. It is located just off Highway 53. It is a small community that was a once booming mill town. The community of Shannon was built around the mill and its people. Although the mill is closed, it remains a close-knit community.

Shannon’s outdoor recreation center, Shag Williams Park, is located in the heart of the community and includes the Shannon Scout Hut and recreation center. There you will find basketball courts, a disc golf course, picnic areas, a playground, softball fields, tennis courts, and a walking trail.

Situated between Rome and Calhoun, Shannon is a short distance to shopping and dining. You can also find The Rock Garden just outside of Shannon. It is a handmade art marvel that is made from rocks, creating a tranquil garden of meditation.

The community of Shannon is served by Johnson and Model Elementary Schools and Model Middle and High Schools. These schools place a strong emphasis on the arts and academics as well as sports. Shannon is a quaint little community with a rich history as a mill town and a positive outlook on the future.
