Cedartown, Georgia is one of three towns that make up Polk County, Georgia. It is a charming town in Northwest Georgia that was established in 1854. The city’s founders chose the name “Cedartown” because of the plentiful red cedar trees growing in the area.
Cedartown is rich in history and natural wonder. The community supports the theatrical arts and has hosted many famous artists at the Cedartown Performing Arts Center. On Main Street in Cedartown is a Coca-Cola History Museum and the Doug Sanders Golf Museum. You can find the Polk County Historical Society on the same block that tells the area’s history. You will also find Peek Forest Park with a splash pad, playground, ball fields, and picnic areas in the downtown area. The downtown area hosts year-round festivals and events for the community.
Downtown Cedartown is registered on the National Register of Historic Places and is doing a fabulous job preserving the past and telling its history. The downtown buildings on Main Street and the surrounding areas are designed in the 1890 architecture style, also referred to as Victorian Style architecture.
