Cave Spring, Georgia is one of Northwest Georgia’s most historic places. When you enter the town of Cave Spring, you are transported back to a simpler time. This beautiful town is rich in history and beauty. The name comes from the town having a natural spring that flows out of a cave. The spring has some of the purest water you will find anywhere around, and people travel for hours to visit and drink the refreshingly cold water.
The cave and spring are located in Rolater Park, the most prominent place in Cave Spring. The spring flows into a swimming pool that is a popular place to cool off in the summer. Around the park, you will find picnic pavilions and historic buildings available to rent for events.
The heart of Cave Spring is referred to as “The Square.” It looks as if it came out of a storybook. In The Square, you will find shops, boutiques, and restaurants. The town square is adjacent to Rolater Park. You will also find historic homes just off the square, each having a story that the owners take pride in sharing with visitors.
One of the unique aspects of Cave Spring is that you won’t find fast dining or cookie-cutter stores. You will discover locally-owned restaurants that serve some of the best food around and stores that sell wares as unique as the town of Cave Spring.
Each season The Square is decorated accordingly. Cave Spring offers activities for every season. The Polar Plunge, held at the City Pool on New Year’s Day, kicks each year’s events off. Throughout the rest of the year, you can find arts and craft festivals, car shows, bar-b-que contests, ghost tours, and so many other activities.
The Cave Spring Welcome Center and Museum staff are very knowledgeable and can tell you anything you want to know about Cave Spring and the surrounding area. The museum displays lots of memorabilia that highlight the town’s heritage. It is a great place to learn the history of Cave Spring and why the residents prioritize saving the historic buildings and preserving their rich history.
