Adairsville, Georgia is a small town located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Northwest Georgia. It is a charming and quaint town with one of the most unique histories around. It was named Adairsville to honor a Cherokee Indian named Chief John Adair. He was the son of a Scottish trader and a Cherokee Princess.
As you explore Adairsville, you will find tree-lined streets and homes with numerous period details still standing in the historic downtown area. The public square has a row of shops and a train depot that has been turned into a museum. The museum plays a vital role in telling the famous Great Locomotive Chase story that occurred during the Civil War. Each year a festival and reenactment of the event are held, and the whole town participates.
Adairsville is home to Barnsley Gardens Resort, a luxury resort that features a 378-acre golf course surrounding a spa and several restaurants. Other outdoor activities in Adairsville include a splash pad at Veterans Memorial Park and fishing at Manning Mill Park.
Adairsville hosts seasonal events throughout the year, such as the Farmers Market, Christmas Festival, and Halloween Festival. These events are free to attend.
